    Welcome

I went to medical school, in part, because I wanted to do what Hawkeye and Trapper did on the T.V. show M*A*S*H. I didn’t want to serve in a military hospital during a war so much as I wanted to be a professional smart-ass. There are some terrific books out there by physicians lending insight into what doctors do and how we think, but none really reflect the blue collar approach to nuts and bolts, front-line health care that has been my experience. This blog is a forum for my stories from the bowels of medicine. Some will be gross, some will be funny, some will be philosophical if not ludicrous. I hope you find entertainment, insight, and laughter in what follows.

    About the Author

I am an orthopaedic surgeon in a small, rural town in Northern California. I can usually be found in the operating room, expounding on my life's philosophies to a captive audience of co-workers and sedated patients.
